VISIT OF Y.B. DATO’ SRI DR. NG YEN YEN, MINISTER OF TOURISM TO FRANCE
Y.B. Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen, Minister of Tourism arrived in Paris on Thursday, May 21 for an official visit to France from 21 to 25 May 2009.
Y.B. Dato’ Sri Ng Yen Yen who was accompanied by her spouse, Dr. Chin Chee Sue and officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Malaysia were received on arrival at Charles de Gaulle airport by Dato’ S. Thanarajasingam, Ambassador of Malaysia to France.
On Friday 22 May 2009, the Honourable Minister launched a seminar entitled ‘Morning with Minister of Tourism, Malaysia’ for the promotion of the Malaysia MySecond Home Program (MM2H) at the Marie-Antoinette hall of the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris. The seminar was attended by about 70 guests comprising of travel trade and professionals, tour operators, airlines and network distributors as well as representatives from the French media. At the event, the Honourable Minister also presented the letter of appointments to the newly appointed Honorary Consuls in France; Mr. Jean-Pierre de Bono, the Honorary Consul to Marseilles and Mr.Regis Van Leifland, the Honorary Consul to Lyon. Minister had lunch with the chief executive officers of major French tour operators and the captains of the tourism industry after the seminar.
On Monday 25 May, the Honourable Minister will hand the appointment letter to Dato’ Seri Jean Todt, the former executive director of Formula 1 Ferrari, as Tourism Malaysia’s Ambassador at Restaurant Guy Savoy in Paris.
Being the first visit to France since assuming the post of Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Minister also visited the Claude Monet’s House and Garden in Giverny, the Park and Chateau of Bagatelle as well as a champagne village in Bouzy, about 150 km from Paris.
